Reset Inspiration #003

Making decisions is hard, especially when it comes to some well deserved R&R. We've taken the hard work out of your holiday planning, so you can sit back, relax, and rest assured that we're here to offer a helping hand with some inspiration each month, covering the why, when, and most importantly, where.

Relax : Kotor - Montenegro

When: May - September

Nestled between mountains in a sparkling blue bay, Kotor has it all from clear, still waters, a gorgeous Old Town, and as many hikes as you could want. Just a few hours drive from busy and tourist-laden Dubrovnik, Kotor provides as much as - if not more - as its neighbour, with half the crowds - even during peak season.

Despite its size, Kotor is packed with things to do - whether it's strolling through the Old Town and climbing up the city walls, taking a boat out to Our Lady of the Rocks, or chilling with a cocktail in hand as you relax on a private pontoon. If you rent a car, make sure to visit Sveti Stefan, and if you fancy some time away from the sea then take a drive up to Žabljak for Europe's answer to Yosemite.

Where to Stay: Airbnbs are very affordable, and will give you a taste of Montegrin hospitality. With supermarkets in every village, a little self-catering is also easy to achieve. We recommend staying in the village of Dobrota - a 20 minute walk from Kotor Old Town, Dobrota gives you a little space from the tourists, and more pontoons all to yourself.

Culture : Rome - Italy

When: April - November, although Rome enjoys mild winters and far fewer crowds in the colder months too.

If ever you have the need to feel classy, Rome is the place to go. With vintage style to be found in the local fashion, architecture, and cars, Rome provides delights for all your senses. Plan a trip to the Vatican, then stroll down the River Tiber and into the city where the landmarks just keep coming; from the Colosseum to the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain to St Peter's Basilica, and pizzas to gelato, why on earth wouldn't you go?

If you have some time on your hands, take a 3 hour drive down to the Amalfi Coast in the south, or if you fancy a stroll through Tuscany's famous fields then Val d'Orcia is only 2 hours away.

Where to Stay: Rome boasts some impressive hotels, but they come at a price. Airbnbs have the same style as a hotel, and they come with a much more palatable fee that leaves all the more room for pasta.

Adventure : Berchtesgaden - Germany

When: All year round

Whether you choose to visit in summer, spring, winter, or autumn, Berchtesgaden is a year-round pleasure. With gorgeous snow-capped peaks in the winter, blooming flowers in spring, and stunning greens in the summer, this small corner of Germany is must-see from January through to December. Berchtesgaden is a destination for nature lovers, so whilst there aren't many landmarks, there is plenty to explore and see.

Munich is only a 2 hour drive away so it will likely be your first stop - and it's worth taking a day or two to explore this fantastic city if you can. Check out the famous Hofbräuhaus, the Nymphenburg Palace, and the Marienplatz. And if you're feeling truly adventurous and want to know more about Walt Disney's inspiration, then Neuschwanstein Castle is only 2 hours drive away (3hrs from Berchtesgaden).

Where to Stay: To be as close to the lake as possible, Schönau am Königsee is a great place to book a hotel room. Hikes and boats galore.
